The Iraqi Parliament decided today, Wednesday, to postpone the approval of the draft law on local and external borrowing, noting that it was studied by the financial committee.

In a statement, the parliament’s media department indicated that the President of the council instructed the Finance Committee to hold a meeting to discuss the economic crisis and the draft of borrowing law in the presence of the deputies and the relevant committees.

It is noteworthy that the council of representatives finished last week, the first reading of the draft law on internal and external borrowing to fill the country's budget deficit for the year 2020, as the House voted on a resolution obligating the Iraqi government to send the Budget Law 2020 no later than the end of this month.
