The weekly newspaper Hawlati said that the WHO report indicates that the incidence of the disease increased by one hundred percent in the Middle East, noting that the statistics from the Ministry of Health in Kurdistan Region recorded twenty-three case only during the twenty-six years.

 The newspaper quoted from (Khalis Qadir) spokesman for the Ministry of Health that "eighty-five cases have recorded among foreigners during the past few months have been deported to their countries".
