Kurdistan Alliance announced that it had lodged a proposal to the Council of Representatives provides for the organization of local elections in the province of Kirkuk, in conjunction with the holding of provincial elections across Iraq in general and planned to take place early next year.

  The Kurdistan Alliance MP Khalid Shwani confirmed that "the proposed law provides for the organization of elections in Kirkuk without any preconditions or exceptional measures, adding that the Kurdistan Alliance is ready to provide guarantees of the formation of new local government in which all components of nationalism in the province.
