Social network sites’ ban cancelled in Iraq

The Ministry of Communications announced on Thursday that it has received official approvals for lifting the ban on social media sites permanently.

Iraqi authorities blocked social networking sites in conjunction with the ongoing demonstrations in the country since the beginning of last October. Internet service was also blocked for several days.

A statement by the Information Office of the Minister of Communications, Naim al-Rubaie mentioned that "the ministry has obtained official approvals for lifting the block on social networking sites permanently."
