Abadi stresses holding of elections on time

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi and head of the Supreme Islamic Council Humam Hamoudi on Saturday stressed the need to hold elections on time and resolve major corruption cases, while agreeing on the need for parliamentary and government cooperation to move towards purging the country's institutions.

"The two sides confirmed their support for the directives of the religious authority on the face of administrative and financial corruption and the care of the families of the martyrs," Hamoudi's office in a statement received by Alsumaria News.

"The two sides stressed that the elections must be held on time ," he said, adding that "Abadi and Hamoudi agreed on the need for parliamentary and government cooperation in moving towards purging the institutions of the country from corruption.
