Iraqi Islamic Party withdraws from upcoming elections

The Iraqi Islamic Party announced that it would not participate in the Iraqi elections and let its members to participate in elections in an individually.

The Central Shura Council of the Iraqi Islamic Party, in a statement issued at the end of its meeting yesterday, said that the meeting stressed that "Iraq, while living the stage of complete salvation of the ISIS, urgently needed to treat the secretions of that dark phase of its history."

The statement added that the Council looks at the upcoming parliamentary elections with interest, because it will draw the image of the Iraqi arena for the next stage, a possible opportunity and a chance to overcome the mistakes that have occurred previously and address the imbalances.

The statement said that "the Council announced non-participation of the Iraqi Islamic Party in the upcoming parliamentary elections in its name, allowed its members to participate in their individually."
