Japan grants visas to the citizens of the Kurdistan region

The Japanese Consulate in Erbil decided to grant visas to citizens of the Kurdistan Region to travel to Japan through two offices in Erbil.

The official of the Foreign Relations Department in the Kurdistan Regional Government sent a letter to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the region stating that, according to a letter to the Japanese Consulate, it confirmed that it has the power to grant short-term visas from August 20, 2019 onwards.

According to the letter that the visa is granted by two offices by the Japanese Consulate and that citizens can visit these two offices, pointing out that this includes residents of the Kurdistan region only because citizens in the rest of the provinces of Iraq get a visa through the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad.
