Head of the Federation of Importers and Exporters of the Kurdistan Region Sheikh Mustafa Sheikh Abdul Rahman on Monday announced that Turkey has achieved 10 billion dollars, while Iran has achieved 5 billion dollars of financial revenues from the process of trade with the Kurdistan Region in previous years.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman told Shafaq News that the process of trade and the shipment of goods and food from Turkey to Kurdistan has increased in 2017 by 40% because of Iran's closure of its borders with the region.

Iran has closed its border crossings with the Kurdistan Region after the referendum held on September 25 last year.

Iran has reopened these crossings with Kurdistan gradually as it was attributed by the closure decision at the request of the federal government headed by current Prime Minister Haider Abadi.
