The local administration of the disputed Sinjar between Erbil and Baghdad, Tuesday, demanded the United Nations and the international community to intervene and end the presence of armed groups "illegal" in the town, and the return of Sinjar to the Kurdistan region.

"Sinjar is part of the Kurdistan region and retuning it to Kurdistan is constitutional and legal and it is a right for its inhabitants," Mahma Khalil Mayor of Sinjar in a press conference said.

He called on the United Nations and international organizations to work on the return of displaced people from the town and withdraw the armed groups present in it, stressing the application of Article 140 of the Constitution.
