Foreign ministers of Iran and France visit the Kurdistan region

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the US sanction would not affect Iran's economic relations with the Kurdistan region.

During a joint trade and economic forum held in Erbil on Tuesday, Zarif said, "We have a common history with the Kurds.

He added: No one can cut our relations with the Kurds, Iran is an important partner of the Kurdistan region and we look forward to strengthening the historical relations between Tehran and Erbil.

"Security and stability in the region can not be achieved without joint cooperation.

"I am assured that the US sanctions will not affect economic cooperation between Iran and the Kurdistan region," Zarif told traders and businessmen present at the forum.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Jawad Zarif, arrived early Tuesday to Erbil on an official visit at the head of a high delegation of political and economic .

Zarif, who arrived in Erbil from Baghdad, went to Sulaymaniyah this evening to participate in an economic conference, then leave for Najaf and Karbala.

On the other hand, met with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Laudrian on Tuesday in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region, to discuss several topics of common interest between the two sides.

He reiterated his country's support for the Peshmerga forces and the Kurdistan region in all fields.

The French Foreign Minister arrived in Erbil on Monday, on an official visit coming from Baghdad, where he went to the evening of the day to the city of Najaf in southern Iraq.
