The ruling parties in Kurdistan agree on the justice portfolio in the federal government

A local political source, Thursday, revealed the arrival of the two ruling parties in the Kurdistan region to an acceptable solution on the portfolio of the Iraqi Justice Ministry, noting that it was agreed to nominate an independent figure from the provinces of Sulaymaniyah or Kirkuk to this ministry.

"The Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) have reached an acceptable settlement on the justice portfolio in the federal government, which has become a point of contention between them," the source told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.

The source, who asked not to be named, said that "was reached after a series of meetings between party leaders to an agreement on the disputed justice portfolio in the federal government, which opens the door to other agreements on the territorial government," adding that " The nomination of an independent figure of the Ministry of Justice does not belong to any of the two parties to be this character of Sulaymaniyah or Kirkuk. "
