A political agreement between the two parties of power in Kurdistan ends the dispute over the sharing of positions

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) signed a comprehensive political agreement on the formation of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the naming of the Governor of Kirkuk.

The two parties in power in the Kurdistan region today reached to a final agreement between them.

According to informed sources, the Patriotic Union told the Democratic Party that (Rizgar Ali) is the only candidate to fill the post of governor of Kirkuk, provided that he begins his functions after the election of the President of Kurdistan region within the parliament of the region, to vote the members of the PUK and KDP blocs in the Kirkuk provincial council for Rizgar Ali as a governor of Kirkuk. "

It also includes the agreement of both sides that the formation of the provincial government and the election of the President of the region, before the feast of Nowruz in March.

The Kurdistan parliament will hold a session within a week and a new speaker of parliament will be elected from the PUK.

"The agreement will be a guide to our work now and in the future," PUK spokesman Latif Sheikh Omar said at a news conference with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) spokesman.

"The agreement is aimed at organizing the work and keeping the interests of citizens," Sheikh Omar said.
