Lorenz Guerrini, the Italian Minister of Defense, during his visit to the Kurdistan Region and his meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, announced that his country intends to resume training the Peshmerga forces in the near future.

Italy was one of the countries participating in the international coalition that supported the Kurdistan Region in its war against ISIS.

It is worth noting that after the end of the war with ISIS, the Italian forces began to train the Peshmerga forces, but with the outbreak of the Coronavirus, they stopped training for a period.
