Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that it had sent 25 military advisers to Baghdad to support the Iraqi army within the NATO mission.

The ministry said, via Twitter, Tuesday: "Our military advisers went to Baghdad to support the friendly and brotherly Iraqi army in the framework of the NATO mission in Iraq."

Last week, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar paid a visit to Iraq, in which he declared that his meetings with officials in Baghdad and Erbil were successful and that he discussed with them the security issues related to the two countries and the region.

Akar said: "After the intensive talks, we noticed the convergence of views between the two parties on many files, we reached understandings on many issues."
