The Saudi Ministry of Health said, on Tuesday, that those wishing to perform Haj this year will have to prove that they have vaccinated against coronavirus.
In a statement, the ministry stressed that proof of vaccination would be a "basic condition" for those wishing to go to Mecca during the Hajj season.
The statement did not clarify whether non-expatriates from outside Saudi Arabia would be allowed to perform Haj this year or not.
The Kingdom had allowed a limited number of citizens to participate in the Haj season last year, and millions of non-Saudi Muslims were banned from entering Makkah due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
