Al-Araji: The withdrawal of foreign forces helps stabilize Iraq

The Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, said, Wednesday, that the withdrawal of foreign combat forces from his country helps to stabilize and enhance its security.

This came during Al-Araji's meeting with the Chief of Staff of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO", Joachim Roll, according to a statement issued by his office, and Anadolu Agency received a copy of it.

The statement said that the two sides "discussed joint cooperation between Iraq and the NATO mission to achieve security and stability in Iraq and the region."

The statement quoted Al-Araji as saying during the meeting, "The withdrawal of foreign combat forces from Iraq helps to stabilize and enhance its security," noting that "there is no increase in the number of foreign forces in Iraq."

Al-Araji pointed out that Iraq "needs training, advice, and raising its combat capabilities, and does not need any combat force."

For his part, Roll indicated, according to the statement, that the NATO mission "is a non-combat force that helps and contributes to raising the combat capabilities and skills of the Iraqi forces, through training and correct advice."
