An attack targeting two oil wells in Kirkuk

A number of Iraqi security personnel were killed and wounded, on Wednesday, as a result of an explosion targeting two oil wells in Kirkuk, which set them on fire.

The Iraqi Oil Ministry said in a statement, "The oil wells 183 and 177 in the Bay Hassan oil field in Kirkuk governorate were subjected to bombing by a terrorist group, and the attack resulted in the death and injury of a number of security personnel."

The ministry added that "the firefighting teams managed to extinguish the fire in Well No. 177, and are currently working to control the fire of Well No. 183."

It is likely that the attack on the Bay Hassan field was launched by elements belonging to the "ISIS" organization, which increased its attacks over the past few months, especially in the areas in the Kirkuk governorate.
