Ebrahim Raisi sworn in as Iran's new president

The new Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, officially began his duties, after taking the constitutional oath, Thursday, to become the country's eighth president, after winning the June 18 elections.

The swearing-in ceremony, in the Iranian parliament, was attended by 265 guests from 115 countries, according to the IRNA news agency.

Raisi was sworn in in front of the head of the Iranian judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohsen Ejei.

A number of leaders and officials participated in the ceremony, including Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Algeria's Ayman bin Abdul Rahman, Kurdistan Regional President Nechirvan Barzani, Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahibeh Ghafarova, and Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh.

The ceremony was also attended by Parliament Speaker Mustafa Shantob, Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party Numan Kurtulmus, and other officials from Turkey.
