Saudi Arabia and Iraq sign a maritime transport agreement

On Thursday, Saudi Arabia and Iraq signed a maritime transport agreement aimed at developing commercial navigation and raising ship traffic to transport passengers and goods between the two countries.

According to the official Saudi Press Agency, "the Saudi Minister of Transport, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and the Iraqi Nasser Al-Shibli signed a joint cooperation agreement in the field of maritime transport."

The agreement aims to support the maritime transport sector, develop commercial navigation, raise ship traffic to transport passengers and goods, and encourage trade exchange between the two countries.

The agreement also included how to treat the ships of the two countries with regard to access to their ports, stay and departure, as well as emergencies and maritime accidents in the territorial waters, according to the agency.
