The head of the European Union team to monitor the Iraqi elections announced that the European Union is observing the elections without interfering in them.

"We are here to protect the elections, at the request of the Iraqi government, we do not interfere in the elections nor do we influence them," Viola Kramos, head of the European Union's election monitoring team, announced in a press conference.

She also added, "We are not judges and we are not here to guarantee the results of the elections and interfere in them. We are here to monitor the elections and evaluate."
