The Turkish Interior Ministry announced the launch of a new security operation against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the southeast of the country.

The ministry said in a statement, Saturday, that it had "launched the new operation in the states of Diyarbakir and Mush, as part of its efforts to eliminate the party."

In its statement, the Turkish Ministry of Interior stated that "the operation, in which gendarme and special forces are participating, aims to uproot the Kurdistan Workers' Party throughout Turkey."
