Patriotic Union of Kurdistan confirmed on Wednesday that there was no consensus with the Kurdistan Democratic Party on the presidential candidate, while noting that most blocs support the current president to assume a second term.
Adviser to the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Rezan Sheikh Diler, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "any consensus between the Patriotic Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Party regarding the position of the President of the Republic has not occurred yet," noting that "each of them has their own candidate."
"The union's candidate, is the current President Barham Saleh," she said, stressing "the union's efforts to move towards taking office again, especially since most political blocs support his assuming a second term."
