Turkey's raids in Makhmour and Sinjar cause deaths and injuries

Local media sources reported on Wednesday that eight people were killed as a result of the Turkish airstrikes of Makhmour camp, southwest of Erbil.

The sources said that the camp was bombed by Turkey six times last night, and quoted the Makhmour Health Department as saying that the raids also wounded 17 people who were taken to hospital.

Added that Turkish warplanes bombed the Jal Miran area on Mount Sinjar, also of Nineveh, in conjunction with their bombing of Makhmour camp.

Turkish warplanes bombed suspected sites of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Iraq and Syria at dawn today, Wednesday, in a new air attack.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement that the strikes targeted locations in Mount Sinjar, as well as the city of Al-Malikiyah, or Derik, in Syria.

The Turkish military operation targets the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan region, and the People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria.

The ministry added that the targets that were bombed included shelters, caves, tunnels, ammunition depots, bases and training camps.
