Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian presidency, "Kremlin", said that Finland's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO" is a threat to his country.

Peskov said in statements to reporters in the capital, Moscow, on Thursday, that the expansion of "NATO" does not increase security and stability in the region.

He added that "Russia's response to Finland's accession to the alliance will depend on the degree of progress in NATO's military infrastructure on the border."

He stated that Russia will analyze the situation and take the necessary measures to ensure its security.

Earlier, Finland announced its intention to submit an application to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO", paving the way for the growth of the alliance while the Russian-Ukrainian war continues.
