Iraqi Finance Minister: Sending 200 billion to the Kurdistan Region will not continue

The Iraqi Finance Minister revealed that the 200 billion dinars will not continue to be sent to the Kurdistan Region.

Iraqi Finance Minister Ali Alawi said the decision of the Federal Supreme Court to dissolve the oil and gas law of the Kurdistan Region, prevents the federal government to determine the region's share of the budget.

"Previous budgets had determined the share of the region at 12%, provided that the oil revenue is sent against that amount, but the agreement was not implemented and replaced by another temporary agreement, Erbil should have received 200 billion dinars, but this will not continue.

"My duty is to implement the law, not violate the law. In the 2021 budget, there was a clear condition that the Kurdistan Region will either hand over oil exports to SOMO or hand over oil revenues," he said ".
