The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has declared a day of national mourning for all universities and scientific institutions.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said in a statement that Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Deputy Minister, a number of university presidents, advisors, directors-general, employees, and teachers organized a mourning ceremony Ismail, Dean of Salahaddin University College of Law, and Dr. Idris Hamakhan, Professor of the College of Engineering of the same university.

"At the beginning of the mourning ceremony, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said that each of the martyred teachers were two talented teachers and academics of Salahaddin University who were martyred in an unexpected incident," he said. We wish those injured a speedy recovery.”

"We strongly condemn such violations and will take all legal measures to protect our universities and development," he said.

According to the Minister of Higher Education, universities and scientific institutions have been instructed to lower the flag of the ministry and universities, and scientific institutions in the Kurdistan Region for three days, as well as suspend all scientific activities and graduation ceremonies.
