The Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Islamic Union held its first regular session in Erbil on Thursday following the General Conference at the end of last month.
The Political Bureau issued a final statement following the meeting, which was chaired by Secretary-General Salahaddin Muhammad Bahaaddin, and attended by the Chairman of the Leadership Council, the Chairman of the Supreme Follow-up Committee, and the Assistant Secretary-General.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary-General addressed the situation in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the region, especially the changes witnessed in the Syrian arena and the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
The Secretary-General stressed that he would employ all his energies for the Kurdish cause in Syria and continue efforts for the peace process in Turkey.
On the other hand, the meeting discussed the issue of salaries and the problems between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government in Baghdad, stressing the need to resolve the differences between Baghdad and Erbil and continue to pay the salaries of the region's employees without delay.
The Political Bureau called for the election of the Kurdistan Parliament Presidency as soon as possible and for the parliament to be activated to return to its oversight role. It stressed that the Kurdistan Islamic Union would not participate in the next government and would continue its policy within the opposition forces.
