Omar Gulpi, a member of the Kurdistan Parliament, says: the unemployment rate in the Kurdistan Region has reached 700,000.

Thursday, February 13, 2025, Omar Gulpi posted on his Facebook account "Unemployment and lack of employment for university graduates have reached the point where general medical graduates are demonstrating".

He added "According to some estimates, the unemployment rate is on the rise and about 700,000 citizens are unemployed, mostly young people and university graduates.

He added, “Unemployment is the source of most of society's diseases, and the authorities and their government have not done anything to reduce it in the past ten years. "It is on the rise, and most of the small appointing were in the party armed forces and were based on injustice".

He also added “If there is no rapid and radical change in the way of governance so that employment opportunities are based on need and justice, the social situation in Kurdistan will move towards a bad future, as in the public sector "There is no fair employment. There is no revival in the private sector, which is one of the sources of labor force mobilization, due to the monopoly and control of both parties over the market, competition, and the private sector."
