Technical Assistant of the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture said Iraq has the world's largest number of dates and the fourth largest date production.

Misaq Abdul Hussein, Technical Assistant to the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture, said in a statement by 2025, the number of palm trees in Iraq is estimated at more than 22 million, with plans to increase to 30 million in the coming years.

He added "According to the information available to us, Iraq ranks first with 22 million palm trees, followed by Iran with 21 million, Saudi Arabia with 12 million, Algeria with nine million, and Egypt and Libya with seven million.

He said, In terms of date production, Iraq ranks fourth in the world according to the latest data, indicating that in recent years, date production has increased significantly in Iraq.

Misaaq Abdul Hussein says: “In 2022, date production in Iraq will reach more than 650,000 tons, in 2023 it will increase to about 725,000 tons, and in 2024, date production will exceed 800,000 tons and more than 700,000 tons will be exported to other countries.”
