On Monday 17 March 2025, a delegation of the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU), led by Dr. Mohammed Hawdiani, a member of the Political Bureau and head of the party's Relations Bureau, visited the Dutch Consulate in Erbil, they were welcomed by Adrian Esselstein, Consul General of the Netherlands.

The delegation discussed the ninth congress of the KIU and the changes after the congress and discussed the unchanged position of the KIU that will remain as the opposition in parliament.

Adrian congratulated the KIU leaders and members on the success of the congress and thanked the KIU delegation for this visit and wished them success in their political work.
