Kurdistan Regional Fatwa Committee: Reducing the time of fasting in Ramadan is contrary to the Qur'an

Kurdistan Regional Fatwa Committee said reducing the time of fasting to the Asr prayer is contrary to the Qur'an and the holy Shari'ah of Islam.

Professor Dr. Sheikh Hassan Mufti, head of the Kurdistan Regional Fatwa Committee, said: The rumors of reducing the time of fasting in Ramadan to the Asr prayer are contrary to the texts of the holy Shari'ah of Islam.

He said: The Qur'an says: “Continue your fast until nightfall.” The night means the beginning of the night, which is evening.

"Such statements are not good at that time, different fatwas will be issued and this is Signs of the Day of Resurrection and the thing is not good," he said.

It is worth mentioning that there have been rumors that an Islamic country has claimed that next year, fasting will be until the Asr prayer.
