The Iraqi navy announces the seizure of an unidentified ship

Iraqi army chief of staff says An unidentified ship suspected of smuggling oil was seized in Iraqi waters on Tuesday evening.

The Iraqi Army chief of staff issued a statement "Forces of the 1st Naval Battalion, 2nd Naval Brigade, seized an unidentified ship suspected of smuggling oil".

Pointed out "The force, which is responsible for protecting the Basra oil port and oil platforms, carried out the operation based on intelligence on suspicion of illegal activities in Iraqi waters.

He also mentioned it "The ship, whose captain was an Iranian, and a crew of eight, two Iraqis and the others Indians, were seized in the operation because they entered Iraqi waters without official permission and are suspected of smuggling oil.

Stated that "The ship was transferred to the Umm Qasr naval base and its crew was handed over to the Umm Qasr police station according to legal procedures".
