TikTok has been sued for deceiving children

The United States has officially filed a lawsuit against TikTok, accusing it of "deceiving children.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has accused TikTok of violating state consumer protection laws.

On Wednesday, Rokita filed a lawsuit against Chinese company TikTok, claiming the app "directs young and teenage users to inappropriate and immoral activities.

The complaint also alleges that the program contains inappropriate content such as the use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs, inappropriate images and videos, sexual content, and violence.

In another part of the complaint, the Indiana attorney general claims that TikTok deceives child users (under the age of 12).

The company has not yet made an official statement on the lawsuit.

The lawsuits come after several other US states, such as Texas, South Dakota and South Carolina, banned TikTok.

Last month, the FBI chief said TikTok posed a threat to national security.

The Biden administration has been in talks with TikTok officials for months to reach a national security agreement to protect the data of hundreds of millions of users in the United States.
