Reaching an agreement between the Kurds and Arabs regarding the Kirkuk Governor

The PUK told the newspaper Sharq al-Awsat that the governor of Kirkuk will be alternated between the Kurdish and Arab components and the Turkmen component will be excluded from the equation.

A senior source in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan told the Sharq al-Awsat that the governor of Kirkuk will be appointed between the Kurdish and Arab components in turn and each will hold the post for two years.

The source said the PUK and KDP have agreed on this issue.

According to the agreement, the Turkmen component will be excluded from the equation, which previously demanded the post in rotation among the components.
