Turkey... 33 people arrested on charges of spying for Israel

Turkey's Interior Minister said 33 people have been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and spying for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said Tuesday that the suspects were arrested in an operation across eight provinces in and around Istanbul.

"We will never allow espionage activities against the national unity and solidarity of our country," he said.

Yerlikaya's office released a video showing armed security forces breaking down doors and arresting suspects in their homes.

Relations between Turkey and Israel have deteriorated since the outbreak of the Israeli-Hamas war about three months ago.

Last week, Erdogan compared Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler and called on Israel's Western allies to end their support for "terrorism" carried out by Israeli soldiers.

It has also recalled Ankara's envoy to Tel Aviv and called for the trial of Israel's military and political leaders at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
