The Iraqi parliament summons Sudani and Abdul Ghani over gasoline prices

To explain the reasons for the increase in gasoline prices, in a letter, some Iraqi lawmakers have called for the hosting of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani.

According to the letter, the MPs said that the increase in gasoline prices will affect the expenditures of the Iraqi people and increase the prices of all goods in the market, so they are concerned about the possibility of increasing gasoline prices.

The lawmakers called for the reopening of the Karbala and Beji refineries to increase domestic production, support the national economy, and prevent gasoline prices from rising.

On November 26, the Iraqi Council of Ministers unexpectedly decided to raise the price of gasoline by about 30 percent.
