Jumana Ghalai: There is no decision to postpone the Kurdistan Parliament elections

Iraqi High Election Commission spokeswoman said there is no decision to postpone the election campaign and it will start on schedule.

The election campaign is scheduled to begin on May 10, Jumana Ghalai, spokeswoman for the Iraqi High Election Commission, said: The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) is ready for the elections, campaigning to begin on time a month before polling day, which begins on May 10th.

She said that preparations for the June 10 elections continue, more than 800 candidates are participating in the parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region, and the names will be sent to the Iraqi Interior Ministry for investigation.

She added that there are four constituencies in the Kurdistan Region for the elections in Duhok, Erbil, Sulaimani, and Halabja, more than 100 polling centers, 1,200 polling stations, and 6,000 polling stations.

She said Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani has instructed the Ministry of Finance to provide the necessary budget for the elections and the commission has received 69 million dinars.

She added that the Kurdistan parliamentary elections will not be postponed, we have passed a good stage and we have allocated the necessary budget so that the process is conducted on time in a legal manner, the polling stations will be opened on June 10.
