UNAMI: The resignation of the UN Secretary-General's special envoy has nothing to do with corruption charges

Regarding the end of Plaschardt's mission in Iraq and her resignation UNAMI announced the resignation of the UN Secretary-General's special envoy has nothing to do with corruption charges.

The United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) said Wednesday that We want to correct the misrepresentations on social networks in Iraq about the departure of Jenine Hennessy-Plaschardt, the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative and head of UNAMI, in May this year.

Plaschardt's resignation is in line with normal UN procedures, including the standard rotation of senior officials, it said.

The statement rejected the contents of a report published by the Guardian newspaper on allegations of corruption, saying that UNAMI and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have two different administrative and financial structures.

UNAMI called on the media to act with caution and refrain from publishing false information.
