A US newspaper reports that "The United States needs the Kurds but not permanent friends".

The New York Post reported that "Baghdad has made every effort to end the limited power that Erbil has".

It is also noted that "Iran is involved in the repression of the Kurds in Iraq, who do not want to submit to Tehran and have provided Washington with a safe diplomatic and military presence in the Kurdistan Region."

"The United States needs the Kurds, but it is not permanent friend," he said.

"Washington will not provide the Kurdistan Region with air defense systems to prevent Iraqi and Iranian missiles from being fired at the Kurdistan Region," it said.

"When Masrour Barzani was in Washington recently, neither Biden nor Deputy Secretary of State Kamala Harris met with him, although they invited Sudani to meet with him in April," it said.

"The Kurdish region is considered a brighter and more open society than neighboring regions, which has become a refuge for other besieged minorities, such as the Yezidis and Christians, and works to strengthen women's rights," it said.
