Iraq and Turkey reached an agreement to resume exporting oil from the Kurdistan region

The Iraqi government spokesman says Turkey expressed its readiness to export oil from the Kurdistan Region through the pipeline.

Iraqi government spokesman Bassem Awadi told a news conference that 26 agreements have been signed between Iraq and Turkey in several areas and Turkey will participate in the reconstruction and elimination of water shortages in Iraq.

He added that the issue of oil in the Kurdistan Region has been resolved, Turkey has expressed its readiness to export oil by pipeline, and foreign oil companies that have contracts and operate in the Kurdistan Region, should export oil through SOMO.

“Now the problem is only between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, especially about the rights of the companies that extract oil. According to the new decisions, these companies must deal with the federal government and SOMO; Therefore, new contracts, agreements, and negotiations will be made.”

He added that the PKK is a banned organization in the Iraqi National Security Council, on that basis, working with them, through the joint security committees of Turkey and Iraq continue to discuss and agree to some extent and finally agreed that the PKK will be a guest in Iraqi territory They cannot engage in political or military activities.
