Kurdistan Region Presidency spokesman: Kurdistan Parliament elections may be postponed

The spokesman for the Kurdistan Region Presidency announced that holding the Kurdistan parliamentary elections requires preparation, and the conflicts have caused great damage to the region.

Dilshad Shihab, spokesman for the Kurdistan Region Presidency, said on Wednesday, April 24, that the elections are a legal, political, and constitutional issue, and we live in a legislative vacuum.

He added that the elections will not be held with a set of decisions and the foundation must be laid for them.

Shehab said, "We have suffered a lot due to disagreements over the election law and the commission, and it is time for all of us to put some matters aside, and the presence of Parliament is more important than any other issue."

Although the Kurdistan parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held on June 10, due to the absence of the Kurdistan Democratic Party from participating in the process, the elections may be postponed.
