Türkiye announces the killing of 359 PKK militants this year

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the killing of 359 PKK militants in the Kurdistan region and Syria from the beginning of this year until today.

Turkish Ministry of Defense spokesman Zaki Akturk said in a press conference on Thursday in the capital, Ankara, that the operations carried out by the Turkish army against Kurdistan Workers’ Party militants in the Kurdistan region and Syria from the beginning of this year until today resulted in the killing of 359 of the organization’s militants, including 144 in the Kurdistan region and 215 in the north of Syria.

He pointed out that "207 people, including members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, were arrested while trying to enter the country illegally last week, while 2,495 others were prevented from infiltrating the country."

Regarding the visit of Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Guler and Chief of Staff Metin Gorak to Iraq, he stressed that “the visit witnessed in-depth discussions on bilateral and regional defense and security issues, especially combating terrorism and border security.”
