A special security force has arrested Jamal al-Karbouli, head of the solution party, in the capital, Baghdad, on charges of corruption, based on an arrest warrant issued by the judiciary.

Baghdad Police Captain Hatem al-Jabri said that a special force linked to the office of Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi arrested Jamal al-Karbouli from his home in the Yarmouk neighborhood in central Baghdad.

He explained that the arrest was based on a judicial arrest warrant issued against him against the background of charges of financial corruption, indicating that Karbouli is facing charges related to fake deals in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, possibly related to his brother Ahmed Karbouli, the former Minister of Industry.

There was no official statement from the Iraqi authorities regarding the arrest of Karbouli.
