The Iraqi Ministry of Planning is conducting an electronic census of the population of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Iraqi Planning Ministry spokesman Abdul Zuhra Hindwi told the Iraqi News Agency that they are preparing to conduct the general census in Iraq this year, including the Kurdistan Region.

He said the ministry is preparing to implement the general population census, for the first time in Iraq, the census will be electronic and will include the Kurdistan Region.

He said the population census will be a very important basis for the digitalization process in Iraq.

Earlier, the Iraqi Planning Minister said the tentative population census would be conducted in May and the general census would be conducted on November 20.
