Barzani demands to postpone the elections, Talabani refuses

The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, said that postponing the Kurdistan Parliament elections for a few months is much better than holding them at the expense of violating the rights of the components, questioning the integrity of the elections without the participation of all parties.

Barzani indicated, after his meeting with the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, that it is impossible to hold clean and fair elections during the specified date for the elections, but there is some progress in the parties working together to eliminate the problems, and it is certain that solving these problems requires more opportunities, so postponing elections for several months are much more important than holding elections in which the rights of voters and components are violated.

Barzani expressed his hope that with the participation of all parties, the United Nations and the Iraqi Commission, the shortcomings could be resolved and the way could be paved for holding real, fair and transparent elections and finding the appropriate solution for the participation of components.

On the other hand, the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani, confirmed that the Kurdistan Parliament elections will be held on the specified date, the 10th of next June.

During a press conference, the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani, made a statement about the Kurdistan Parliament elections scheduled to be held on June 10 and confirmed that the elections will be held on the specified date.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party announced its boycott of the elections and did not submit any lists of the names of its candidates in an effort to obstruct their holding. However, the Iraqi High Elections Commission confirms that the electoral process will take place on the specified date without delay.
