The United Nations condemns the recent violence in Iraq and demands that the accused be punished.

The United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) in a tweet expressed its concern about the killing and wounding of demonstrators in Iraq in Dhiqar Governorate and called on the Iraqi government to make all its efforts to protect the demonstrators and punish the killers.

At the same time, the European Union’s ambassador to Iraq, Martin Hoss, declared that targeting the demonstrators is an attempt to silence the emerging politicians, and at a time when Iraq is heading towards holding elections, freedom of expression for all Iraqis must be guaranteed.
