Metro Center for the Defense of Journalists' Rights revealed, on Saturday, an increase in cases of violations against journalists in the region during the past year 2020.

The center said in a statement on freedom of the press and the media in Kurdistan during the past year, that "the year 2020 have seen an increase in cases of violations against journalists in the region."

Added, "it recorded 385 cases of assault and violation of journalists in the various provinces of Kurdistan."

Pointed out that "the number of violations in Kurdistan is constantly increasing due to the lack of implementation of laws that protect journalists, as well as the economic crisis and the repercussions of Corona and the problems between the political forces in power that were reflected on the general situation of the press in the region."
