The Ambassador of the United States to Iraq expressed his country's support for the Central Bank and the banking sector in Iraq.

The press office of the Central Bank of Iraq announced today, Monday, April 26, 2021, during a statement that Mustafa Al Mekhaif, Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, received the US ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Mueller, during the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening coordination between Baghdad and Washington in the field of currency and economy.

The statement added that the two sides stressed technical support and joint coordination for the purpose of reviving the banking sector in Iraq.

The statement indicated that the US ambassador praised the central bank’s reform plans in the banking sector and expressed his country's readiness to provide support to the central bank and the banking sector in Iraq.
