Iraq: We did not reach an agreement with Iran on the water share

The Iraqi Minister of Water Resources announced that they did not reach an agreement with Iran on the water quota and will resort to the international court.

Mahdi Rashid Hamdani, the Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, announced that they have numerous evidence that Iran has begun digging tunnels to change the course of water and have officially informed Iran about these violations. He added that they have pressure cards that they can use against Iran, including resorting to the International Court.

The Minister of Water Resources had announced earlier the reactivation of a memorandum of understanding with Turkey that was signed in 2009, allowing Iraq to obtain a sufficient quantity of water from shared water resources.
