The World Health Organization confirmed that it had not received any information about the deaths of the new strain "Omicron".

WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier told a press conference in Geneva: "I have not seen any information that there have been deaths associated with Omicron.

He added that as more countries resort to testing for the new mutant, "we will have more infections and more information, although I hope that there will be no deaths."

The World Health Organization said that is likely to spread “Omicron” globally, although it does not yet know much information about it, such as the severity of its infection, the effectiveness of vaccines against it, and the severity of the symptoms it causes.
